Sequence of Courses
Students shall enroll in courses according to the general numbering system:
100 Level Courses are designed for Freshmen
200 Level Courses are designed for Sophomores
300 Level Courses are designed for Juniors
400 Level Courses are designed for Seniors
500 Level Courses are designated as advanced undergraduate coursework. These courses may include specialized workshops, independent studies, and intensive field experiences that reflect degree-specific, upper-level academic rigor. 500-level courses are not graduate-level courses and should not be interpreted as fulfilling graduate degree requirements or as being equivalent to post-baccalaureate study
It is, therefore, expected that:
100 Level will be taken before 200 Level Courses
200 Level will be taken before 300 Level Courses
300 Level will be taken before 400 Level Courses
All Lower Division Requirements should be completed by the time a student is in the junior year or has completed sixty (60) credits
The sequencing of 500 Level Courses varies by department and academic program. Enrollment in 500-level courses may be subject to specific prerequisites, credit thresholds, class standing, or departmental approval, as determined by the academic department offering the course. Students should consult program requirements and academic advisors for guidance regarding appropriate timing of 500-level coursework.
