Special Topics (Housing Development Finance and Policy)

Description

The course will introduce students to the analysis of US affordable housing finance and development. In addition, the course will discuss housing policy and practice. There is also some focus on the evolution of housing policy and finance at the national level in order to lay the foundation for an understanding of local housing policy within the City of New York. More affordable housing is produced and preserved in New York City than the next 59 largest US cities combined. Why is this the case? How did this happen? Who are the major players in this industry? Throughout the entire semester, students will be introduced to business and job opportunities available in the worlds of affordable housing development, finance and property management in New York City.
