Description
This course focuses on fundamental college reading skills, and encourages students to become active readers. Using a college reading skills textbook, students learn skills in vocabulary development and reading comprehension as well as basic study and test-taking strategies. Students read at least two novel reflecting different cultures and engage in class discussion of the themes and other aspects of the texts. Students write formal and informal critical responses to varied readings.
