Description
ESLR 006 is one level above the 005. Students entering this level areguided to become more competent and critical readers of StandardEnglish expository and literary prose. This second level readingcourse is for students whose writing placement exams contain ESLpatterns. The primary focus of this course is on improving critical andcollege study skills. Students read, interpret, and discuss collegelevelexpository and literary prose and articles on current events.Although this course focuses on critical and college study skills, anintegrative learning model involving listening, speaking, reading, andwriting is used to help students become more competent and criticalreaders of Standard English. Students must pass the departmentalfinal to exit this course. Pre-requisites: A placement score of 45-65 on the COMPASS reading exam and evidence of ESL writingpatterns.
