Description
This first level ESL writing course is for students whose first languageis other than English and whose placement scores demonstratethat they have achieved a degree of fluency in writing StandardEnglish. The primary focus of this course is on sentence clarity andbasic essay organization. However, the approach utilized will be anintegrative learning model, emphasizing listening, speaking, reading,and writing, to help students become more linguistically competent in the writing of Standard English. Students read expository textsfrom various academic disciplines and compose, revise, and editshort essays. Academic Foundation Division Students must pass thedepartmental final to exit this course. Pre-requisites: A placementscore of 4 or lower on the CUNY ACT writing test and show evidenceof ESL writing patterns.
