Description
This course introduces the student to the nursing profession, thetheoretical framework, and essential components of nursing practicein the care of clients of diverse cultural backgrounds. Principles ofpharmacology, drug calculation, and medication administration areincorporated to enable the student to begin the development of acomprehensive approach to clinical practice. The nursing processis introduced as a foundation for the development of critical thinkingskills and competencies and concepts of teaching and learningin providing safe nursing care to individuals. Student learningexperiences are provided in the classroom, college skills laboratoryand variety of health care settings. The student will be introducedto the significance of nursing research and technology in clinicalpractice. Pre-requisites: (BIO 150, BIOL 150 & BIO 151, BIOL 151)or (BIO 251, BIOL 251), CHM 105, CHML 105, ENGL 112, MTH120, PSYC 101 and Successful Department of Nursing AAS/PNCompletion of Admissions Process/Co-requisites: (BIO 152, BIOL152 or BIO 252, BIOL 252), NUR 030, NURL 030, ENGL 150
