Description

This is a survey of the development of the American foreign policy system from the revolutionary period to the present. Discussions will include the determinants of American diplomacy, idealism versus realism in American foreign policy, Monroe Doctrine, Manifest Destiny, expansion and the American empire. In addition, emphasis will be placed on America's rise from a hemisphere to a world power.
