Description
This course critically examines the political and socioeconomic evolution of the Third World. Specifically, the course surveys the post-war post-colonial context into which newly independent nations began their complex journey toward economic, social, and political development. The course examines the impact of ideology, nationalism, and coldwar. Also covered are class structures, gender, structures of governance, and problems of economic and social development. The course critically examines the relationship between the Third World and the policies of the major powers, multi-lateralism, and regional organizations.
