This course provides an overview of the different legal, prescription,over-the-counter and illegal drugs that are used by a cross sectionof the American population. Legal ramifications of the use of thesevarious chemicals will be carefully examined. The effects of drugson the total well being of the individual, families and communitieswill also be investigated. Additional topics to be addressed include:prevention measures to discourage inappropriate use, the economicand costs of drug use (including crime and incarceration factors).Pre-requisite: SW 311
