This course is designed to introduce students to the professionaland ethical responsibilities of AOD counselors, including ethicalprinciples; behaviors and boundaries in clinical relationships;confidentiality laws; and the importance of counselor wellness. Stateand Federal laws and procedures that relate to confidentiality (ofpatient records in general and HIV related issues in particular) andthe need for practices that encourage counselor wellness will be addressed. Students will also examine in depth the Code of Ethics ofthe National Association of Social Workers (NASW).Pre-requisite: SW 312
