Description
This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to basic statistical techniques commonly used in data analysis and business operations. This course focuses on the use of statistics as a tool to navigate and make sensible decisions in an increasingly quantitative world. Topics include tabulation and presentation of data; descriptive statistics; elementary probability theory; binomial and normal distributions with applications to sampling theory; the Central Limit Theorem; confidence intervals; hypothesis testing; correlation; linear regression. Statistical computer programs will be integrated into the course and will be used extensively.
