This course provides the social work student a conceptual andtheoretical framework for social work generalist practice in diversesettings and with client systems that social workers interact within various roles. There is emphasis on ethics and values of theprofession as they apply to situations with families and groups.Learning methods will include lecture, reading, audiovisual,discussion, role play, group exercise, and written assignment. Thiscourse highlights the necessary skills to address the needs of adiverse population, preparing the student to provide social work inagencies that serve people of various socioeconomic, racial, andethnic backgrounds, gender, age, physical and mental abilities, andothers who need social work services.
