Introduction to Biological Anthropology

Description

This course examines humans as biological organisms from a material and evolutionary perspective based on both genetic and fossil evidence to underscore the science of evolution. It introduces concepts, methods, findings and issues in the study of the order of the primates, including relationships among fossil monkeys, apes and humans, and the significance of diversity in modern human populations. The course also reviews and discusses the applied nature of biological anthropology, including forensics, medical anthropology, geologic time scale, ecology and allied professions in the biological, ecological, medical and environmental sciences.
