Women in Africa and the African Diaspora

Women in continental Africa and throughout the African Diaspora from the earliest times to the present are examined. Focus is placed on the dispersal, growth and influence of women of African descent through-out various localities of the world. Emphasis includes commonalities as well as differences in regional experiences within the Diaspora. Various primary and secondary sources are utilized to assess the historical, socio-economic, cultural, and religious roles, positions, and experiences of women within an interdisciplinary context.
