This is an introduction to the field of transcultural concepts in healthcare. Culture, as it relates to healthcare behaviors and practices, is viewed through interrelated perspectives of social, political, economic, and religious structures. Cultural competence in Community Health Education involves learning about, assessing, understanding, and respecting the values and beliefs of others while having self- knowledge to be able to provide culturally competent care within an ethical, caring- healing framework. Ways of knowing and interprofessional collaboration are essential components of this professional process.
