Course Title
Gerontological Seminar Legal and Ethical Issues
Department(s)
Description
The purpose of this course is to acquaint students with legal and ethical concepts, as well as principles and gerontological issues that impact on service delivery to society's elderly population. Students will examine specific policies some of which may seem arbitrary and disputable which nonetheless shape and influence gerontological services including social work practice and other specific treatment modalities. Through an examination of one's own critical thinking about these issues, the seminar also offers the student opportunities to gain better insights into legal and ethical principles and develop greater awareness of one's own ethical responsibilities and be better equipped to offer protection and serve as an advocate for this vulnerable and growing population.
